Find your Fit (Part 2)
When the person commented to me about the earrings, this is what they said, “Just pray about wearing those. We want to reach the harvest and that may offend the harvest. It offends the dads and grandpas.”
When that comment was made, I had an immediate thought:”I don’t think the harvest really cares if I have earrings or not. It’s the church people that care, and you just don’t want me to offend them.”
After thinking about it for awhile, it is not that at all. That person made complete sense with what they said. It is all about finding your fit. When he thinks harvest, he thinks the people in his generation. To his generation it was weird to have earrings, Christian or not. He has found his fit and he is speaking for them.
However, when I think harvest, I think of my generation and it is pretty normal to have earrings or tattoos. It is the church people who have a problem with it to my generation. In fact, because I have earrings, they may be more open to church because they think I’m somewhat normal.
So, am I going to take my earrings out? I’m not sure yet. What do you think?
