It all boils down to……….

Inside of us is an urge to be great. My wife and I went to the dollar movies the other day and watched a movie called “Step Up”. It was about a kid who went from nothing to being this great dancer. I’m not into dancing. I’m not passionate about it. There was something about watching this kid go from a janitor to an art school’s top dancer. I cried. We want to be great. After that movie I began to search about what makes people great. What made Henry Ford invent the car and not some other guy? Why did Thomas Edison invent the light bulb and not someone else? Why is Tiger Woods seem to stay one step ahead of the rest of the PGA? After reading and studying and seeing what God says about it, this is what I came up with: There are alot of people with more talent in their pinky finger than I have in my whole body. Some of those people are sitting around waiting for their break. There are alot of people who are a part of a large church who have no talent, but are still up there. God gives us giftings and talents, but the difference between being a potential and being kinetic is discipline. Think about it. Life is discipline. It is being disciplined in your relationship with God, or being a disciple. Life is being disciplined in your marriage or relationships to not be self-centered. Life is being disciplined in exercising and working out to remain healthy. Life is being disciplined in maximizing your time to accomplish dreams. Life is discipline. If you want to be great, you have to be disciplined. I read a post at Tony Morgan’s blog, one of my favorite blogs to read. It really helped me to solidify what I felt I needed to focus on in 2007. The bottom line is: I don’t care how talented or untalented you are. I don’t care what your mission statement is or what vision God has given you. Until we become disciplined, we will never accomplish greatness, whatever that may be for you.
