Benevolent Church?
I was at Panera Bread the other day meeting with a Pastor here in town. One thing I noticed during our time together is that the 4 tables around us were all God related conversations. At one table was a women’s bible study, at another there were some pastors from another church meeting. Our church has a very strong coffee culture. Real Starbucks-ish and Panera. Apparently, so do these other churches because all that was around me was church stuff. A question popped in my head.
If 70% of our county is unchurched and all this “church activity” is going on at Panera, maybe the church is not reaching culture, but just creating its own culture.
This is just a thought to ponder and keep us evaluating our effectiveness at reaching those who need Jesus’ love in their lives. I am not saying in any way that what we are doing is bad or ineffective. Maybe the church is successfully reaching culture and it is a positive result that places like Panera have “church activity” happening. I’d love to hear your comments.
